Been running this in my farm shop for over a year now welding everything from thin sheet metal to thick angle iron. The duty cycle is impressive and it just doesn't quit. Wire feed is smooth thanks to the cast aluminum drive.
This welder handles 3/8 inch steel without breaking a sweat. My only complaint is the weight — moving it around my garage is a workout. Otherwise it's been rock solid for two years of hobby projects.
Stepped up from a smaller 115V unit and the difference is night and day. The Ironman 230 runs hotter and more consistently. Spool gun compatibility was a big selling point for aluminum work.
Performance-wise this thing is excellent, very reliable arc and clean welds once dialed in. The analog dials work fine but I miss the precision of a digital display from other machines I've used.
Three years of near-daily use in my fabrication side business and it hasn't skipped a beat. Contactor control and industrial build quality really show. Worth every penny for the reliability alone.
