Running it
The Tweco No. 2 MIG gun is a heavy-duty air-cooled welding gun built for professionals and serious hobbyists who need dependable performance in demanding fabrication and repair environments. Rated for medium to heavy amperage MIG welding applications, this gun is engineered to handle sustained use on steel, stainless steel, and other common weldable materials without sacrificing control or comfort. Its robust construction reflects Tweco's long-standing reputation in the welding equipment industry, where durability and consistent wire feed performance are non-negotiable requirements for shops that run their equipment hard, day after day. Built around Tweco's well-known consumable system, the No. 2 gun accepts a wide range of contact tips, nozzles, and diffusers that are widely available and easy to source, minimizing downtime when parts need replacing. The gun's ergonomic handle is designed to reduce operator fatigue during long welding sessions, while the trigger mechanism provides reliable, responsive control over wire feed activation. The liner and cable assembly are constructed to resist kinking and wear, ensuring smooth wire delivery from the feeder to the contact tip, which directly translates into more consistent arc performance and fewer feeding interruptions during critical welds. Compatible with a variety of MIG welding power sources and wire feeders, the Tweco No. 2 gun is favored in industrial fabrication, automotive repair, structural steel work, and maintenance welding where reliability under load is essential. Its rugged design tolerates the heat and mechanical stress typical of production welding environments, while still allowing for precise maneuverability in tighter joint configurations. For welders who prioritize a gun that can be rebuilt and maintained rather than replaced outright, the No. 2's compatibility with standard Tweco consumables and its field-serviceable design make it a practical, cost-effective choice that supports long-term operational efficiency on the shop floor.
The Tweco No. 2 MIG Gun is a dependable, no-frills option for hobbyists, farm shops, and light fabrication work. Its 200 amp rating and compatibility with the widely available Tweco #2 consumable line make it easy to maintain and keep running. While it's not built for heavy industrial duty cycles, it delivers solid performance, comfortable ergonomics, and good value for the price point.

Been using this Tweco No. 2 for farm repairs and small fabrication jobs. Handles thin to medium gauge steel with no issues. Consumables are cheap and easy to find locally.
Not the fanciest gun out there, but it gets the job done. The trigger feels good in hand and I haven't had any major issues after several months of use.
I use this on my home welder for small projects. Works fine within its 200 amp range, just wouldn't push it much beyond that for thicker material.
Performance is fine, but the cable took a while to loosen up and become easier to maneuver. Once broken in it works well enough for occasional welding tasks.
