Running it
The Hobart Champion Elite stands as a dependable engine driven welder built for professionals who need reliable arc performance far from shop power, whether on pipeline jobs, farm repairs, construction sites, or agricultural equipment maintenance. Powered by a rugged Kohler gasoline engine, this machine delivers smooth, stable DC welding output across a wide amperage range, making it suitable for stick welding with a variety of electrode types as well as DC wire welding processes when paired with the appropriate feeder. Its engineering reflects Hobart's long history in welding technology, combining a durable enclosed case design with thoughtful component placement that protects critical electrical parts from dust, moisture, and debris commonly encountered in outdoor and mobile work environments. Beyond its core welding capability, the Champion Elite doubles as a true multi-purpose power source, offering integrated auxiliary power output that allows operators to run grinders, lights, drills, and other AC-powered tools directly from the unit. This dual functionality makes it an efficient investment for contractors and ranchers who need both welding capability and generator-style power in a single portable package. The unit's fuel tank capacity is designed to support extended run times, reducing downtime for refueling during long field jobs, while the engine's cooling and air intake systems are configured to maintain consistent performance even under sustained heavy-duty use. Portability and ease of operation are central to the Champion Elite's design philosophy, with a compact frame, accessible control panel, and lifting or towing options that allow it to be transported to remote job sites without excessive setup complexity. Controls for amperage adjustment and engine operation are laid out for quick, intuitive access, letting welders focus on arc quality rather than fighting with the machine itself. For those in the welding equipment industry who require a trustworthy engine driven welder that balances welding precision, generator functionality, and field-ready durability, the Hobart Champion Elite remains a strong choice built to withstand the demands of real-world jobsite conditions.
The Hobart Champion Elite is a rugged, dependable engine-driven welder/generator built for professionals who need reliable stick and DC TIG welding power alongside serious backup generator capacity. Its Kohler engine and heavy-duty frame make it well suited for farm, construction, and remote jobsite use, though its weight and fuel appetite mean it's best suited to those who need real workhorse performance rather than occasional hobby use.

Been running this Champion Elite on the ranch for over a year now. Starts every time, welds clean, and doubles as our backup generator during storms. Worth every penny.
Welding output is fantastic for stick work on heavy equipment repairs. Only gripe is the weight—definitely need a trailer to move it around the property.
We use this on pipeline jobs where there's no power access. The Kohler engine has never let us down and the arc stability is excellent even in cold weather.
Performance is top notch for stick welding and running my job site tools off the generator side. Just wish fuel economy was a bit better under heavy loads.
